I am MeriBeth, homeschooling mom to 7 kiddos and traditional midwife. I am an apprentice trained direct-entry midwife. I am not a registered nurse, certified nurse midwife, or physician. I am not licensed or certified by the State of Pennsylvania. I try to maintain current certifications in both adult and infant CPR as well as first aid. I have been trained as an emergency medical technician (EMT). I am currently neonatal resuscitation certified.
I have been attending births as a doula since 1999. I was given the opportunity to become a midwife’s assistant in 2004. I have been attending births as a primary midwife since 2005 and have been blessed to be a part of over 150 births. I have learned through self-study and apprenticeship with 3 other experienced midwives. I now have the honor of teaching others to become midwives.
Although, I believe that every woman has the right to choose where and with whom she has her baby, my practice is limited to low risk pregnancies and births. Should your pregnancy fall out of the low risk category, other arrangements will have to be made for the birth.
I do offer childbirth education classes and informational handouts. However, I expect parents to be well informed and take responsibility for reading and educating themselves. I cannot offer you any guarantees other than I will do my best, with the knowledge I have, to provide you with a safe and rewarding birth experience.
